09.27.06 :: Long Time Coming

This summer I interned at Minerva Sportswear, Inc. where I had a lot of hands on experience in both web design and graphic design. Part of my job was to redesign, and restructure, their company website.

03.16.06 :: Projects in Progress

I am currently working on several different projects.

We finished up the yearbook, I was Assistant Editor this year, and turned it in Tuesday evening. The specifics of the theme design can't be shared at this point, but here is the staff shirt I designed. In my Publication Design class we are doing a magazine redesign. I am redesigning Snowboarder. Here is a rough of the contents pages with masthead; please keep in mind it's unfinished at this point. I am also currently doing a new webdesign project through Connect-A-Tech, Inc. So far I've done two roughs: One & Two. Also, my COAST group is doing a project for the Counseling Center.

03.08.06 :: AIGA Member

My school has recently started an AIGA student group for communication arts students called COAST! It will be a great new opportunity to learn more about design and get more experience out of the classroom. Needless to say, I joined and am now an AIGA member.

This Friday, we are going to a symposium at the Kansas City Art Institute called Another 60s Revolution, looking at Swiss influence on American design. I'm super excited and can't wait to come back with more ideas to incoporate into my projects.

02.02.06 :: Double Degree

I met with Fran in the Registrar's Office yesterday to make sure that I was on the right track for graduation. I found out that I am in great shape and that, because I will have over 154 hours, I will actually be receiving two degrees: one in Graphic Design and one in Digital Media Arts.

I was only planning on one degree with a double major, so this came as a very cool surprise.

01.31.06 :: Adobe InDesign

This semester I am taking Publication Design in which I am required to use Adobe InDesign. I had taken an introductory course on the program before but hadn't really used it much since I have Quark on my computer for yearbook.

I love InDesign! It is so much more intuitive and allows an extraordinary higher amount of freedom in design. I think I may even have my staff switch to using InDesign next year.

12.12.05 :: Identity System

For Corporate Identity, this semester, we worked on an identity system for the youth ministries of a local church. In the end, we complied it into a printed book as well as a pdf. I truly feel that I learned a lot through this experience and that my teacher really pushed me to do my best.

The file is really large (217.1 MB) as it is 32 pages, but you can view the pdf by clicking on the link below:

11.09.05 :: "Way to Gogh!" Award

I was interviewed for our Art department's "Way to Gogh!" Award recently and it was posted on their website today. I feel very honored as I am the second student ever to be nominated and receive this award.
