Minal Kavishwar pioneers pet therapy and Animal-Assisted Counseling in India through the Animal Angels Foundation.

In this 57th episode of Therapy Dog Talk, I spoke with Minal Kavishwar about her work over the past decade bringing pet therapy to India and pioneering Animal-Assisted Counseling through the Animal Angels Foundation. In 2003, as a dog trainer, Minal was approached by a principal who wanted to incorporate animals at her school for children with special needs. Since she was also wrapping up her Masters in Clinical Psychology at the time, Minal knew the importance of documenting her work, seeking out best practices and connecting with international expert such as Dr. Cynthia Chandler.

If you’re ready to learn more about Minal’s experiences bringing pet therapy to India, let’s dive in:

In this episode, we discuss …

  • Where Minal sought out research on Animal-Assisted Interventions.
  • What it is like to partner with Therapy Dogs who do not live with her.
  • How she continues to pioneer pet therapy and Animal-Assisted Counseling in India.
